Unfortuntely, her kilt hasn't shown up in the mail yet...it's coming from Nova Scotia and it seems to be held up in customs...they're probably afraid that there's some subversive Canadian stuff hidden in the pleats (like same-sex marriage certficates or Canadian Bacon or something)...so I have a very disappointed thirteen year old on my hands.

Rest in full confidence that the US border guards are doing their very best to restrict any Scottish influence via Canada. When I visited the US in May, it took two hours to get through the procedures. The only caucasians, all six of us, think about that, were Scottish. Once we signed the form saying that I was not a terrorist or intending to kidnap a woman in the US, (if I said yes, then they had yet another form for me to fill in, honest), I got through. They never looked in my car where I had my guitar and fx pedals in their own flight cases or, as my military brother observed, a SAM stinger and 6 missiles. My Mercan aunt was pleased that her border guards had been so diligent.

One thing my daughter likes about me wearing a kilt, there are many things, is that she's more comfortable since less people are looking at her. She's older but I think the principle's the same.
