    Scottish Olympic team

The IOC are trying to convince us to enter a UK team in the Olympic football competition. I am totally against it because I bleive it will pose a serious threat to Scotland's footballing independence and could lead to a permanent UK football team, something every Scottish football fan would hate.

But one way to give the IOC it's way would be for us to have a Scottish Olympic team, not just for football but for every sport.

Just think of the opening ceremony with the Scottish team following the Saltire and all wearing kilts.

    Anyone agree with me?

    Robert

Of course I like the idea. It's just that first the IOC has to recognize Scotland as a sovereign nation and not a nation within the UK. The UK is what the IOC recognizes. Scotland gets to be herself at the Commonwealth Games.

It would be a long slow process. The IOC is a monolith, look at what is happening to the two Chinas. The UK would have problems, too, as they try to promote the games in two (four) separate countries. That hasn't been done yet, but, you know, that would be a good place to try it.

and, of course, the opening ceremony probably should not be like the William Lawson's rugby opening.
