He's not really talking about the furniture. It's code. Guy in a kilt, feet up, slouched back, nobody wants to see that, especially in mixed company.

Plus, I get the added fun of being able to wear the only truly recognized regimental tartan in the US Army - the 7th US Cavalry's!!
