    Can I play too..

In Scotland I'd choose Drumnadrochit or Fort Augustus (Both not far from Inverness) Oban would be on the list too. Islay aswell But I have no experience of Islay so don't really know.

    On a world level,
New Zealand (South Island) has always been number 1. Having met Gray Tasmania would be great. and of course Canada (BC)

I could go anywhere in the world where Xmarks members live and know that I have found a good place to live. In otherwords just about anywhere.

I know why you want to live on Islay, and it's not the weather either!!;-)

I agree with your choices, Oban would be good too, good access to Mull and Iona.

I think I'd like to live on Barra, where some of my ancestors came from.

Its a pain in Inverness if you need to get anywhere it is a long way from the two main cities and the road network is not so good, If I were to choose id say Stirling, its more central and easy to get to Edin/Glas, there is a ned problem but not as bad as Edin/Glas Aberdeen is Ok too but again major Ned problems there.

The Islands are very remote more suitable for retired/semi retired. again Ned problems are on the increase on the Islands and the police are very slow to respond.

I do love Wales and I would urge any overseas visitors to visit especially the North Longshanks built some great castles there and Portmeirion where they filmed "the prisoner"is a great place.

I gotta say I like being here in Vancouver. The temps never get too cold or hot and there's an incredible mix of cultures that all get along.
I also like Mayne Island, one of the Gulf Islands. It's very quiet, has no street lights, and is one ferry trip away from Vancouver. I like quiet places.
I suspect a lot of kilt wearers are pretty comfortable in their own skin; they know and like themselves enough to be happy pretty much anywhere.

David, what Daz was being polite enough not to say is that Ned = Non-Educated Delinquents.

Daz, we have Neds here in the States too. And just like the smaller towns in the Stirling area, our smaller communities suffer with them as much as the larger metropolitan areas. Can any small-town American members say "meth"?

I still like the Stirling area, though. My fiance lives just about 6-7 miles east of Stirling and the area is beautiful, with the Ochils standing there so proudly. And history just oozes out of every square inch of the ground. Falkirk, Bannockburn, Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, Cambuskenneth Abbey, Sheriffmuir, etc.

It now looks as if I have been blessed enough to go back across for Hogmanay and I am already itching to start packing! (Are we there yet, are we there yet??? ;) )
