I LOVED that series. I could definitely see myself as a member of their crew. ...not the gun-nut though, he's too stereotypically thick-headed and "one-note" oriented.

Firefly needs you, for sure. That would be awesome.

What is that.
Damn you got a rail on that? I'm quite farmiliar with the M-4 series is that a 30 cal variant? AR-10, or one of the armalite SR- variants?

Back on topic..
I think your response was awesome. Thanks for sharing that with us. And, in line with your response... besides comfort, I think the reactions from beautiful women is probably one of the biggest reasons I wear a kilt. Wherever we go in a kilt, we attract attention from the ladies! It's fantastic.
I spend my entire work day having to work INSIDE a box of roles, ideas, perceptions and stereotypes . I wear a uniform and in my interactions, I have found that if I deviate even slightly from the expectations of others, I get flak for it from someone. When I'm off-duty, I like to be myself and being kilted is the best way for me to live OUTSIDE the box.
Back off topic.. I missed the Firefly series, but I heard good things about it. I have also heard a lot of good things about Serenity. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Since it opens today... if anyone has seen it, will I be lost, not having seen Firefly? Is it the same characters and story or just similar?

Motorman - The series is available as a box set. $34.99 at Amazon

Richland - Right caliber, wrong gun. It's not an AR, it's a FAL, a Springfield SAR 4800 to be exact, and yes, that's a four sided rail.

Continuing Off Topic (AKA Jamie flies off tangent again): Firefly is on the Sci-fi channel right now, so you can pick up the old episodes there (Friday nights, I think). And as far as the movie goes, I've heard that it may actually be more entertaining for folks who DIDN'T watch the original series... take that for what it's worth.

Same characters (minus one) and a continuation of the running plot of the TV program. The reviewer in the Chicago Tribune stated that he felt that if you were unfamiliar with the TV continuity, you would be brought up to speed by the first five minutes of the movie. Sadly, it look like one of the most intriguing characters, the Shepherd as portrayed by Ron Glass, is missing from the movie...I've got the DVD box set "Firefly, the COMPLETE series"...complete!...only because it got cancelled by a network that did everthing to submarine it (ran episodes out of order, etc.). The set contains three episodes that were un-aired...haven't been able to sit down and watch the last three or four episodes yet so the question of the Shepherd's disappearance may lie in the TV continuity.
Great Sci-Fi, some funny stuff and a pretty good premise...plus a couple of really charming actors. See the movie and if you can scare up a copy of the DVD collection, you'll enjoy it.

He was one of the big mysteries of the series!
< edited, in case it spoiled the series for someone.>

Iolaus.
Between you with the FAL ext., me with the 12ga. AK-74 ext., Doc & others. We have a kilted group of Minute Men, or one heck of a Jack Rabbit hunt or target shoot in the making!
