    Hose in Canada

I've been trying to find good sources of kilt hose in Canada. Some kilt places seem to be very expensive for what is essentially a good pair of long socks.

Bear offers casual kilt socks for C$10 at http://www.bearkilts.com/sockspg.html

Any other recommendations for good sources, either mail order, or in the Victoria BC area?

    Mike

I got mine from here: http://www.benbhraggiehouse.com/clothing.htm

I got the off-white for $CDN24.95. They're good quality but the sizing is large.

I had some other issues with this vendor, and I would try Burnetts before I'd go back but these ones are good.

Check out http://www.tartantown.com/ in Coquitlam, or http://www.geocities.com/houseofmclaren/ in Vancouver. I know there used to be a shop in Victoria that sold good kilt hose, but can't remember the name of it for the life of me. A pair of decent kilt hose will be between $20 and $30. Spend the extra money and get a decent pair of kilt hose that you can wear for all occasions. The rugby socks are ok for casual (rolled down), but they look kind of thin when they are pulled up. Just my 2 bits.

You could also try The Edinburgh Tartan Shop in downtown Victoria. They may be a tad more expensive though.

Ref; to kilt hose in Victoria, visit Gina at "Touch of Tartan" on Burnside Rd.
    Very good quality Locharran hose.
    That's where I get mine.

The Sidney shop has closed and gone internet only.

The prices in the shop downtown Victoria are tourist prices and tend to be in the 40-50 dollar range.

Gina may be retiring soon. After that I will carry hose, belts, sporrans, and other kilt accessories.
But when I started this business, I promised Gina I would not compete with her and take money away from her business.

That's the place I was thinking of Steve, Thanks.

Here's a bit of info on them. Apparently they also have a shop in Nanaimo (home of the Nanaimo bar, Hamish), but I couldn't find anyhting for it. The website for the company no longer works either.
