Greetings
I know I'm doing this a little backwards - posting on other threads, and then on the Newbie forum - but I'm left-handed and I work for the US government. How does that explain things? Well, the first means I naturally do things contrariwise to the right-handed majority ;) , and the second means sometimes my actions make no sense, even to myself .
I've been looking around "X Marks" for three weeks now (posting for one). I'd run across references and links to here before, but it was meeting Canuck and the MacHummels (well, his wife - he was talking to a customer) at the Fort Erie Celtic Festival that convinced me to visit. Having seen how much is here, I wish I had come in sooner.
I've been going kilted regularly for a little over a year, fully kilted (outside of work) for seven months. I have one quality wool 4-yd, one not-as-quality 4-yd, and three UKs, and I'll probably be getting in touch with Canuck, MacHummel, PittsburghKilt or M.A.C. Newsome about my latest addition (Matt's offer to make some Pennsylvania tartan kilts has him in the lead at the moment :-D ).
You probably won't see too many (more) posts, right off - I tend to keep quiet unless I have what I think is an intelligent question, or I think I know what I'm talking about.

Welcome to the group
I haven't been here long either but the help and information that this group shared with me made wearing kilts something I take pride in, and am very comfortable with.
I am sure you will learn quite a bit.

That's OK Wompet, we are all a little off here (well Graham doesn't think so, so don't tell him). But at least we don't wear our kilts with the pleats in front! WELCOME!

Hey, now! I'm a federal employee as well when I'm not being a librarian (seasonal ranger, US National Park Service).

keep posting, those conditions actually disqualify you on alternate days. Your start day is a MIB secret.

In that case - a gratuitous post:
For my fellow government employees (and anyone else who's reading),
I used to work for USDA Plant Protection & Quarantine, but under Homeland Security I am now in US Customs/Agriculture.
Before anyone complains about having problems with Customs, INS, or Homeland inSecurity - I didn't do it! I just take the prohibited fruits, plants, and meats away (so if someone took your haggis at JFK ... well, that wasn't me, but it's the right agency).
