Brian Carpenter organized a second Kilt Night at McGirk's Irish Pub in Chenango Bridge, NY on October 8, 2005. The event began at about 7:30 pm and lasted until about 11:00. Nearly a dozen people attended our group and even one of the ladies sported her kilt as well. This was my first Kilt Night and actually, my first time in public wearing a kilt. As I was the first to arrive, it felt like the scene in Animal House when the Delta gang walked into the bar to see "Otis Day & the Nights". Many a head was turned. As my wife and I sat at the end of the bar, it seemed pretty certain that the guy to our left was going to cause a problem. Things diffused quickly to the point where his group and ours were enthusiastically mingling the rest of the night. Many others approached to inquire about our attire. In short: everyone had a fantastic time. We even got a few compliments ranging from, "You look great in that thing!" and "I give you a lot of credit. It takes a lot of balls to wear one of them!" Marty, one of our local pipers, brought his bagpipes and filled in for the band while they were on break. The crowd was very receptive of his talents, both musically and comedic. Thanks Marty! This is an activity we intend to continue once every month. Thanks go to Brian for promoting such a great display of our Celtic heritage! Here are some pictures:

Great pics, Padraig! Sounds like a great time was had by all...now only if I could get something like that going near where I live!

And I'm at the southeastern end of the state...which makes the drive to your Kilt Night way too far for me. But, thanks for the invite!
