or the 40 below winters here. Also to denote, the reason they came up with this hemp kilt idea (according to there story) was a better way to keep cooler in the heat. But it is a nice kilt, I may consider it sometime. Now if they can only mater tartans for hemp

It was mentioned some time back that this company was not good to deal with and that quality of product was poor. Aside from that I'm not sure how easily hemp fabric will wrinkle and crease.

couple of things about hemp material, a fabric I like, by the way. One, if you think wool smells funny wet wait 'til you smell wet hemp. Now, there's a friendly, nostalgic smell. The other is that cats will love you and start eating your clothes. Or maybe it's just my cats.
My guess based on the other fabrics is that it will not hold its shape well, but that's only a guess.

my understanding is that hemp is a very sturdy fabric and holds up quite well.

Sorry, sometimes the quick explanation works, sometimes it don't.
Have you thought about doubled (or tripled) cotton or duck cloth? Vinyl might work too, assuming it's animal-product free.
A metal sporran would look cool, especially if it was gunmetal-toned.
