    couple of things about hemp material, a fabric I like, by the way. One, if you think wool smells funny wet wait 'til you smell wet hemp. Now, there's a friendly, nostalgic smell. The other is that cats will love you and start eating your clothes. Or maybe it's just my cats.

    My guess based on the other fabrics is that it will not hold its shape well, but that's only a guess.

    Archangel, thanks for pointing out about the cats! I have 4 and not all of them are declawed.

    my understanding is that hemp is a very sturdy fabric and holds up quite well.

    Sorry, sometimes the quick explanation works, sometimes it don't.

    Have you thought about doubled (or tripled) cotton or duck cloth? Vinyl might work too, assuming it's animal-product free.

    A metal sporran would look cool, especially if it was gunmetal-toned.
