What a wonderful vacation! Tracy and I are hoping to save enough to spend a week of so in Edinburgh and the Grampians this coming spring, but we'll see how work goes.

I know of LOCH Lomond but not of a Lough Lomond. If there was such a place as Lough Lomond...it would be in IRELAND.

LOUGH is the Irish spelling of LOCH.

Welcome back, Daneel! So, you visited Balquhidder, eh? Did you by any chance visit the King's House Hotel whilst there? Some pals of mine use that for a gathering point before/after the annual Rob Roy commemoration.

As for the midgies, I suspect you would not have been considered out of order for taking cover. ;)

(Robert, I visited Cowal, about a month ago. Made the trek to see the Toward Castle ruins and have never been so moved in my life. Absolutely a must-see, no question. Spent a wonderful evening in the Lamont Room at the Abbots Brae Hotel and would recommend that highly, as well.)

Daneel, thank you for the account of your trip. It sounded wonderful. I'd love to get back to Scotland someday (I haven't been for eighteen years), and hike the West Highland Way. Kilted, of course.
