    Buzz Kidder

GOOD MORNING X-MARKS! (think Robin Williams)

Just recieved my Buzz Kidder sporran. I won the auction Friday night, paid promptly (wait to pay? you are crazy). Over a weekend, bogus holiday on Monday, shipped USPS and it still got here Tuesday morning. Jerry at SWK must be a magician! The first thing that struck me as I opened the package was the smell. I haven't sniffed that new leather smell in a long time...a bit of heaven. Generous sizing, I can even get my huge mits inside, and nice fit and finish.

Now for the problem. It came with a chain belt. For some reason I cannot bring myself to buy a decent leather sporran belt for almost what the sporran cots when I can pick up a nice dress belt from St. Vincents for $2.

For the DIYers here, can you recommend a source for rivets, clasps etc.? I would much rather spend $40 and be able to make all the belts I would ever need than $30 for on sporran strap!

    TIA

I ended up with this one right here. http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-...tem=8339919366

Wanted something more casual. I do find I miss the thumping of the tassels though. I can't tell if I am striding out.

Check craft shops for rivets and snaps. In a pinch a leather shop might sell you some. If you can't find any locally look up Tandy Leather on the web.

Oh the smell of leather sooooo nice. Glad that you are now the proud owner of that sporran.

Be careful of the magnetic closure. It will erase credit cards, hotel room keys, etc.

I've screwed up my room keys with the magnetic back from a nametag on more than one occasion.

I have a plain sporran with a magnetic closure.A while back I had trouble with a debit card. The person I spoke with at the bank when I had it replaced asked if I had been close to anything that could have erased it.I said no.I never thought about suspecting the closure.I don't know that it was the problem, but I'll keep this in mind.

hrmm, I hadn't thought about that... Think a leather wallet (within the sporran) is generally thick enough to prevent that? I haven't had any problems yet...
