    Non Events

My wife and I went to resturants after both days of The Richmond Celtic Festival, Cracker barrel the first evening and our Favorite Chinese resturant on the second day. I was hoping to have some nice story about comments or questions to post about, but Both were essentualy non events. Saturday evening at Crackewr barrel, I didn't notice anyone looking and the only skirt comment was from my daughter who was with us. She asked as we got out of the car if I was really going to wear "my skirt" into the resturant. I told her "Yes I was, and if she didn't want to be seen with me in my kilt, she could go somewhere else and buy her own D#$%ed dinner. She ate with us. The waitress seemed to hover around our table and kept asking questions about the Games . I know some of you might say she was hitting on me or something, but let's be realistic here, I'm a slightly overweight 62 year old balding guy and she was probably everu bit of 18 to 20.
At the Chinese resturant it was just my wife and myself. We met the owner on the way out. His only comment was "nice to see you again". Other than that, no one said anything, and I didn't notice anyone staring/t made me think that they must have kilted patrons on a regular basis.

I've worn kilts to many restaurants and rarely get comments unless it's a fast food joint. In my experience... the higher the quality of restaurant... the less likely the comments. I get more reactions at grocery stores... even that is diminishing. I think folks around here are getting used to seeing me.

I have been known to frequent "high-end" stores as well as second hand stores without much of a comment or even a smile. Simply love the fact that no one notices. Different, but fitting in.

I'm kind of confused. I don't know whether I'm dissapointed about the lack of comment, or happy because no one seemed to care.

I'm happy because no one seems to care and looks at me as an individual.

Yes,yes, yes. Always a good thing to be accepted for who you are, and it's maybe a sign of kilts and kilt wearing becoming more acceptable to a wider audience.
    It's all good here.

I'll back that up, Ranald. I have worn my kilts in Croydon, even on the wonderful tramway system and on Saturdays (!!!!), without so much as a batted eyelid or a comment of any kind.
