Meeting in Lapland

I had a crazy idea of starting to arrange a kilt meeting in Lapland. Maybe Summer 2006 or 2007. Is anyone interested about this kind of a meeting? I would arrange places to visit and different kinds of activity. Maybe visiting the mountains for a little hike or something like that. It would cost for flights and hotels but many of us visit abroad anyway. Anyone interested about it? And remember, you could meet the Santa, real one! ;D

Just asking. If interested I start to arrange it. Summer 2006 or 2007.

What a good idea-sadly I'm too old now-woe.

However back in the 60's I spend several summers in Swedish Lapland walking the Kungsleden-and it was superb.

I did wear my kilt and it was ideal, for the walking.

Though a bit of a coward when it came to Knebnekaise-then it was breeches--a good thing as some super glissades.

Have fun-I envy you.

I would be intrested in something like this. I have always planned to vist all of my ancestors countries. This would be the first one. Thanks for bring somsthing like this up.

You could get me interested in coming to Finland...I understand that the Tango is still very big there.

I'll keep up the Chicago support! I would be interested as well. We could combine it with a trip to Germany to see some relatives.

JohnL, your pretty close to me (Mt. Prospect) interested in a kilt night? Auld you would be welcome too, just not sure how far south you are!

It would be cheaper than traveling to Finland otherwise. I can arrange group discounts on hotels for example. And you would have a local guide too. I'll start to plan this as soon as we get our kilt association in Finland up and running.

You could check the flight prices from US to Finland from the internet.

I will be travelling to Norway & Sweden in the summer of 2006 anyway. I don't have my dates nailed down yet but this could be quite interesting if it were only for a day. I have a lot to do & see in my one week abroad but if there were an Xmarks gathering going on while I was over there I could spend a day of my vacation on that. :-)
