Well, Just to indicate the difference a few (hundred) miles can make: here in the south of England, we are experiencing some of the mildest weather on record for late October. Today the temperature reached 72ºF/22ºC outside my back-door, with torrential rain (very welcome!) and gale-force winds. The leaves on the trees are mostly still green and my lawns are growing like there's no tomorrow but, of course, they are too wet to cut! There has been no sign of frost yet, which is something we would normally be getting by now.
The forecast for the remainder of this week is that it will remain very mild and occasionally very wet.
The odd thing is that the pundits are advising us to prepare for the harshest winter for many years! Oh, well! I shall be alright - I have my tweed kilts!
