Here in Wisconsin studded tires are illegal except on emergency vehicles. The "reason" given is they damage the road surfaces, as if the tons of salt they dump on the roads doesn't.

Hey David, glad the video arrived OK, should bring back some nice memories.

Thanks for your comments everyone.The video was a ray of Sunshine Graham . I'm not finished it yet . You drove many of the same roads we did so we feel we would have had the same pictures if we had had a video camera with us.
Bubba: Cars with studded tyres have to pay a toll if driving into the city (Oslo). Out in th sticks it doesn't matter although Studd free are getting more popular
Flyv65: I'd consider a quad just not a motorbike. That would be more excitement then I could cope with at the moment

Yes, Studded are definitely better on ice but on snow studdless takes the lead. I think I get hybrid tires next time I need a new set...
