Yeah, I think the waistcoat would bind under the shoulder straps of the pack, and the jacket isn't cut to let me swing my hiking poles in my arms. ;)
Of course, I wouldn't be the first to attempt an "expedition" in a tweed coat. George Mallory and Andrew Irvine attempted to summit Mt. Everest in 1924. They weren't successful, though, so maybe I won't wear my Scottishkilts.net jacket and waistcoat up Everest.
