Alternative to kilt pins

For a few years now I have not used a kilt pint, but an embroidered badge of about 6cm diameter sewn onto the kilt in the same position. I use the crest from my Coat of Arms but any "badge" would do. Perhaps we could get the X Marks kilt pin embroidered ?

I'll tell you...we're all (both of us!) wearing Chicago White Sox buttons on the kilt pin side of our kits these days. My daughter has a button maker and cranked out a whole slew of them during the play-offs. I was wearing the SWK Nightstalker in a bar during the playoffs and everybody first gave me a "what's this joker wearing?" look but when they spotted the Sox button they all broke into a smile.

I do have to refine my technique of sitting on a barstool kilted, though...all these adjustments to things that are second nature!

Since we are talking about Kilt pins a friend of my partner told him she had an antique kilt pin and would he like to buy it as a Christmas gift for me. She sent a pic and it turns out its a er....Fly Plaid Brooch (what do you call these things?). Anyway see link below and please tell me what you think of the brooch. I would not be using this as a kilt pin but I'd appreciate an educated opinion if anyone can tell anything about the quality of this from the pic. I don't dress formally very often but I'd love to have this in my collection.

Star, not my taste for a kilt pin, but looks nice and I think it would work fine. Hard to tell how big and heavy it really is from the photo though.

Definately looks like a plaid broach to me. It'll be too big for a kilt pin.

Yes it does look nice, however a tad bit heavy for the kilt.

Just wondering Graham, would you consider not wearing a kilt pin? I know several people that do not.
