    The Funny Side!

I cannot remember who-sorry, but a bit back someone was explaining on this board the difference between a skirt and kilt-waxing lyrical about the aprons-pleats etc.

I'm as I might have said am very pleased with my new Highland Granite Hillwalker from Hector Russell-and still am.

Anyway I bumped into a lady I know and the following conversation took place:-

'I do do like your new kilt, that grey is very smart'.

    'Thanks'.

'It's nearly the same grey as our school skirts used to be'.

'Yes, but this is a kilt'.

'I know, just like our school skirts.'

I had to either creep away and shoot myself, or think it all very funny-I chose the funny: at least she admired the kilt.

Goodness knows let's not start another Kilt vs. Sk$$ debate. (It's been done to death).

However I'm VERY interested in your impressions of the Highland Granite as I think it's one of the most gorgeous tartans I've seen.

Also can someone give a deffinition of a "hillwalker"? is that a four yard kilt with knife pleats? I've seen the def. somewhere but don't remember.
    Thx.

    James,

I hope you talked to her with a "stone granite" face. LOL

    Too funny.

But, she did call it a kilt, not a skirt. 8-) Obviously, the fabric was where she saw the similarity, not the idea that the kilt was like her skirt. What she said is similar to someone saying, "The leather on your jacket reminds me of a pair of boots I used to have." They're not calling your jacket, boots, but comparing the fabric.
