Well as some of you know Sten Rune and I attended the 2nd Oslo Whisky Festival this weekend at a hotel in Oslo.I was helping Norman with russling up some new members. Norman had brought alone the new Norwegian 100 years of Independance tartan. It's to celebrate Norways Independace from Sweden. here I took a pic of Norman holding a shawl around himself to get an idea of what his new kilt will be like when it arrives

However on to the whisky.Sten Rune and I attened the Masterclass "Old Malt Cask, Provence and Platinum" held by Stewart Laing of Douglas Laing. We got to taste 8 of their offerings. They where as follows.
Braeval 8years 46 % (Nice honey toffee nose and taste to this one
Caol ila 10years 46%. The colour of white wine and the wonderful taste of peat and a salty undertone
MacDuff 35 years 53.8% It was the colour of a rich sherry with a nose of Coconut therefore totally undrinkable for me as I hate cocnut this one was a flop in my book...sorry.
MacAllan 25 years 50% Golden in colour with a nose of Sheery/toffee/burnt Sugar and a floral undertone. It had a delicate sweetness with a hint of smoke.
Laphroaig 12 years didn't note the volume (Handwritting getting unclear at this point. A pale colour with that well known smoking antiseptic taste . My only comment was ...WoW!!!!! start saving David....
Port Ellen 21 years 50 %. I real highlight from Islay this one if you like Islays try to get a bottle of this. It was smoother that I was used to as it was older than the Port Ellen I've tasted before.
Clan Denny Dunbarton single Grain. A nice suprise this as I'd never tasted a single grain before . Well worth the money and the effort . I can only remeber that it tasted very nice.
Brora 22 years 50 % Another smooth offering ....But by this time I was past being objective
Other Whiskys I can remember tasting through the day where
Ardbeg Very Young,and Uigeadail. GlenFarclas 105 and Glenfiddich 30 years,
All fantastic Whiskys and all presented in a well put together format. Did I have a fav ? well yes I did. in order
Ardbeg V.young.
Laphroaig 12 years
Caol Ila 10years
Glennfiddich 30 years
Glenfarclas 105.......Still you may have chosen differently...
