I was down at the local sewing store and came across a beautiful light grey + middle grey + black "tartan" material in a wool blend and middle weight for $5 USD per yard so I bought 6 yards of 60inch wide cloth. More than enough for 2 kilts or I could just use the bolt for a great kilt at the local renfairs and highland games.
The overall look is about the same as your material but the pattern repeats about every foot which is a bit more than other "tartans."
I'm thinking of calling it "Donnell of Louisiana."

Could you post a picture or two? A Donnell in Pennsylvania is intrigued.
