The worst single malt I ever had was....darn good  I guess my favorites would be Craggenmore or Glenmorangie Port Finish. At least today they are, I get a different single malt each time I run out and who knows what it will be the next time I pick some up.

Graham - which Laphroaig were you drinking? You've got me curious about this one. I tried some Laphroaig at the Whisky Heritage Center in Edinburgh when we were there and as I remember I was quite taken with it (I could be wrong... I tried a LOT of whiskies that day - but I'd have to try again to remember properly  ).

Most Single Malts are good (well made) for each taste there's a malt...from smooth and sweet to stiff and peaty.

I only encoutered one terrible malt (so far) "Isle of Jura" it's outright filthy...a weird soap taste :-|

Excellent point, Robin. Not being a single malt drinker normally, I was surprised by the vast selection in whiskies I encountered in Scotland. There's truly something for everyone (unless you don't drink at all... don't remember seeing any non-alcholic versions).
