    Blaxnit kilt socks report

Thought I'd report on these for those folk that didn't catch the first thread.
Sierra Trading Post is selling Blaxnit socks for the amazing price of $3.95 per pair. These are perfect for kilt socks, if the colors work with your particular kilt.

70%wool / 30% nylon and very, very comfortable. I ordered 4 pairs, 2 each in the dark olive green (very dark) and the cinnamon (picture dark rust color) and am very pleased. $22.00 total including shipping to my door in less than a week.

    Here's the link...

Looks like they have ecru (off-white) in smaller sizes, but too small for me...

I've been wearing these for a while now...got four pair of the dark olive and two of the olive heather (sort of medium grey with a greenish tinge). Truly comfy, warm and I've been able to turn the tops over three times to produce a reasonably respectable cuff. My current biggest fear is that my wife is going to hijack them for winter wear. Hope that Bridgedale continues making them in the future as they are supposed to be some sort of "special edition" to commemorate some landmark in Irish Football.

I also have 2(?) pairs of these based on AA's original post a few weeks back. The question mark is because I had originally ordered more, but they were out of stock when it came time to ship, so I believe that I only got the dark olive and cinnamon. I really wanted the olive gray, but c'est la vie.

They are great, and long enough that if you need additional cold protection you can wear a pair of over the calf men's dress socks underneath them. The length gives a great turnover, even for me at 6' 3".

Likewise, I'll throw my recomendation in here too. I'm happy with my pair of cinnamon colored socks. I'm thinking about getting another pair, along with a pair of the gold ones.

Someone posted a link to Sock Dreams a week or two ago. While the site is mostly intended for women, they did have some Over-The-Knee tube socks for $10/pair that looked like they would work. I ordered 3 pair - black, walnut, and natural - and just recieved them in the mail today.

They're the perfect hight with a double roll-over, I've got 17½" calves and they don't feel tight, and they have 15 colors! While some, like the "Bubblegum Pink" or the "Tangerine" might not work, there's bound to be something you need!

    Iolaus,

Thanks for the link! Those do look good, and the price is great. How are the walnut and natural colors? The site does not have a sample. Are they 2 darker shades of cream or oatmeal? How about a pic? How long did it take to get them?

The walnut is more like a heathered brown, and the natural is ...natural. The sun brightend the natural a lot; it looks a bit darker in person.

As I recall, they had it in the mail the next day.

BTW, they have free first class shipping, so what you buy is all you pay. How cool is that!

Sierra Trading Post has knocked the price down another notch, to $3.55, so if you want those you better move soon; they're probably trying to clear them out.

I just ordered five pair, 3 olive and 1 each gold and cinnamon. I got more olive because they work best with my walking outfit as I have a sweater that matches them. You sure can't beat the price.

I'll have to check out the other site as well.

Hey, my box of sox just arrived today. I ordered eight pair. Four green, two each gold and cinammon. ( I work long hours and one of life's luxuries for me is changing my sox at lunch hour so need two pairs).

The tag said "Slightly Imperfect" rather than "seconds." Haven't found any dings yet.

Green is darker than I'd thought from the website, still okay, sort of a dark Army Green.

The gold is like an old gold. Think it picks up the gold from my L.L. Bean West Point tartan shirt well, gonna try them with black kilts

The cinammon is dark too, thought it'd work with my caramel UK workman's and it sorta does...gotta fiddle with that more.

And YES they are long. Nice. Bottom line, after looking a gift horse in the mouth for some time I risked ordering and wound up with about $200 worth of kilt hose for $40.
