I have a pair of the "knitlist" popcorn socks, knit for me by my dear mother... 80+ years young.

    They're great!

I am fascinated by knitting & have come to it late. I grew up crocheting, & can crochet anything, if the tendonitis doesn't flare up. I am determined to learn how to knit socks, & I hope I can resist the temptation to only knit one of a pair before I lose interest & move on to a new pattern.

I have a book that is way beyond my capabilities, but maybe someday...
In the meantime, I want to share this resource in the hopes that some knitter will pick up the ball of yarn & make kilt hose based on the beautiful patterns in this book. It is Viking Patterns for Knitting by Elsebeth Lavold
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/157...books&v=glance

She has devised a technique of knitting that makes the Celtic-inspired Norse knotwork knitted into her designs look truly interwoven. There is a pair of socks in the book, which could easily be elongated for kilt hose, but would need a turn-down top added.

Her research is so impecable that other artisans (carvers, metal workers) use her book for guidance.

Anyway, I hope someone reading will get inspired.

    Thank you

Thamk you all so much, I will send the link to my friend and see what she can do. I have seen a lot of her work and she does a great job, so I will post pictures if I get a pair.

Thanks again for all the help.

my wife worked at a hobby shop for about a year and a half I wont say the name , but St, MICHAELS would have liked it! lots of stuff around X-mas !!

anyways she was a freestyle knitist? i donno if thats the word for it but I gave her the basic idea of what I wanted and about a week later she came into work with two pair of cable kit hose ( no other design just the knot work on either side ) and popcorn top ...which when foled over was on the inside .,...but thats my fault cause I didnt say weather they were supposed to be on one side or the other.

    my point?

have her talk to someone from hobby lobby , or michaels to get her going in the right direction!! they could be a BIG help !
