Sorry that some of the surprise was spoiled, but you now know that you really do have a goody to look for on Christmas morn.

Did you keep the tags on the slacks?

I didn't... I should have. For some reason I have issues with returning gifts because I feel like I'm rejecting the efforts of the person who gave them to me.

Actually, the worst part of the pants was that they had those adjustable waistbands that move with your... well, with your paunch. It was like "HAHAH! No kilts! And here are pants for your beer belly!"

And I'm not quite accurate on the gifts thing... my wife did get me a copy of So You're Going To Wear The Kilt, a Wicked Tinkers CD, and one of those kilt beer-bottle cozies. So I did get a kilt... just not the right size.

I know what you mean about the gifts, Jamie. I was just teasing you.

My dh's parents don't "know" him anywhere near as well as they think they do. For them, I think it's a combination of "I need to have you in this pigeonhole for my comfort level," & their large egos (they always know what's best). Maddening sometimes, but we go on making our own decisions despite their confusion. (DH is 46, & I'll be 46 in Jan., btw. I don't think the PIL are going to change anytime soon.)

Sounds like your DW did a nice job, tho'.

So the BIG wait is on. Whatever she gets you, you had better have a big grin and a suprised look on your face.

Either way have a Happy X-mas! No pun intended.

Oh, I know she's going to do this up right. I'm going to be pleased as punch at whatever she gets me.

Of course, I already got her gift and I KNOW she's going to be just as pleased. I'd tell you here, but she's darned savvy so I wouldn't be surprised if she reads this board to get ideas.

Well, Christmas has come and gone, and the Mystery Jones has been sated... in the form of a new Black Watch kilt from Heritage of Scotland!

It's a solidly made kilt - not wool... it's PV but it's very comfortable and looks pretty good (this is my first PV kilt so I don't have a frame of reference). It also came with a new sporran and chain, belt w/thistle buckle, kilt hose, and a navy kilt shirt (basically a Jacobite shirt). I wore the whole combo for my family's Christmas party on Monday and everyone liked it!

So now I not only have a new kilt but some more formal accessories to go along with it and my other kilts. The wife set me up nicely!
