Welcome to the board. I love my AK and am expecting my second one to arrive Friday.
I know in my little corner of the Garden State I get some nice reactions to the kilt but mostly it's a non-issue.

You're FAR from alone in this area when it comes to kilts. In fact, I dare say that it's more regular in the tri-state area than anywhere else in the USA (with the possible exception of Seattle). There's plenty of opportunity to wear them around here with all the Irish and Scottish pubs and events. Being that AmeriKilts are from right here in the Philly area, you'll see plenty of them around.

I know it is not uncommon, there are numerous Irish and Celtic festivals in the area ( I have gone to the Classic in Bethlehem for a few years, I'm only 20 miles away) and I have friends who are kilted, but it is still fun to see confused looks on faces.

I am a 47 yr old transplanted east coaster ( I grew up in California, been east now for 23 yrs), my name is of Germanic Ancestory, but there is Irish, Scottish, and English blood more directly in my Geneology, so some wonder "why a kilt?", and I say "because I felt like it!"

This is a great board, with fantastic people from what I have been reading.

    Regards
    Mark
