    HUZZAH!
That's the military style of box pleating. I'm going to have to try to duplicate that on a future kilt. It'll probably be a bit difficult but should be fun trying. I've worn my Cameron quite a bit with the cold weather we've had and it's toasty warm. Now that I've gotten used to it it doesn't feel too warm indoors either.

I still haven't fully comprehended the meaning of "military box pleats." Could one of you with the WPG kilt take a picture of the pleats from the bottom? (ie: so that you can see the selvedge run through the pleats)

    I really hope that's clear.

Or if there's one posted somewhere that I might have missed, could someone be so kind as to point it out?

Take some fabric and fold in a pleat with a 2 inch reveal, then fold 1 inch of that back over the pleat, that's what it looks like.

LukeMacGillie, nope, that's a normal box pleat. The military box pleat is different.

Unless the page has changed, I thought there was a copy that Matt made of the 1794 Military Kilt.

That's what I was expecting, actually! But apparently they got frillier and fancier battle dress as time went along.

I couldn't explain very well what I meant, but I found the pictures that Matt uses that I had in mind...

The first two pictures on this page from Matt Newsome's website are what I was trying to convey.

I took a quick picture of the pleats on mine this morning.
I left it rolled-up, but you can see the pleats at the top pretty well.
They are really deep knife pleats with the outer edge folded back on itself to form the boxed shape.

    Hope this helps ya.
