Respect for the kilt

All these stories make me proud to wear a kilt.

About a year ago I was at an opening of a building when this older lady in her 80's came up to me and asked if I had heard of the Ladies From Hell? I told her indeed I had, and then she informed me her father was one. We made a great connection, still see her every now and then.

I think your mother's advice to wear the kilt with pride and dignity is something for all of us to remember, whether you wear traditional or non-traditional styles. After all, it is a garment worn by some of the bravist men in history. In a way, we are guardians of that proud heritage because we choose to wear the kilt.

I had the same experience a couple of years ago. I was wearing a black workman's Utilikilt and a plain black t-shirt and black work boots, nothing fancy. I was walking with classmate to get some fast-food for lunch.

A fellow crossed our path as we got to the end of the school's driveway. He stopped at attention and gave me a smart salute. I've never been in the military and was too stunned to do anything but to salute back. He seemed satisfied by that and went on his way.

What is the appropriate response in that situation?

yes that was the correct thing to do! if saluted you should always return the salute if possible with the right hand unless you dont have one in that case the left and if neither just a good_____ fill in the blank...........
