Congratulations on being the first, as far as I know, to get their "X Marks.." fabric made up. And what a marvellous kilt too. When I received my kilt length from Steve, my first thought was "RAF blue!" I don't know quite why, but I was expecting it to be a rich royal blue. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful tartan and I must add my thanks to all who were involved, from start to finish, in producing it.
Like you, I am having mine pleated to the sett, but I'm having to wait until Jan 14th to collect it. Having it pleated to the white stripe was certainly an option, but I felt it just looked a little too military-ish for my liking!
Another indication that you and I are pretty much on the same wavelength: I too have invested in a pair of hose in readiness for this particular kilt's completion, however mine are blue with golden yellow in the turn-over!
You have not asked for my opinion, Ron, but I think your gold-coloured hose looks better with this kilt than the lovat blue - the blues just do not connect, as I see them. Sorry!

Ron, I meant to comment earlier about the hose as well. I think that the gold might look great, especially with a matching shirt/sweater/pullover, but in the picture they really did not standout as a match with the Xmarks tartan. Might have been the pictures, as the tartan certainly has a yellow/gold stripe.

Thanks Ham,
Have been waiting to see your X Marks so I can get some tips on accessorizing. Usually have you and your gallery in mind when I'm trying to figure it all out.
In fact, that's what happened after the pics with the lovat blue hose...got to thinking about that gold stripe and the new gold kilt hose, hence the picture with that option. I like the "flare" it gives and I think the X Marks flashes stand out more against the gold. Thanks for that support.
Also, for me, those lovate blue kilt hose are the smaller size, they're hanging fresh washed and damp over a bar right now with weights on each end to try to get them to dry longer.
I think we're the wiser of the X Marks kilt set. While I admire the courage and talents of those who are chosing to sew them up thereselves I'm feeling very comfortable with having Kathy Lare do the work ;-)

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

Ron,
That RAF BD Jacket compliments the tartan beautifully. Nice pics!
