I want to add my congradulations to everyone else's. I assume this is your first? As the father of three small children, I can honestly tell you that having kids is the absolute best thing you can do -- this is the legacy you leave for the future.

Take your time now and really enjoy these months coming up. You have quite a ride ahead of you. Like I said, I have three kids, but the being there for the birth of my first is above and beyond the best memory I have.

All the best to the three of you!

I appreciate it guys! I cried like a baby at the ultrasound! Thanks for all of the kind words. My wife and I feel like you are our virtual family. Maybe I will name my first born after X Marks somehow....

Ummm, ok so the wife saw me type that and now my hat is on the floor. Maybe I will name a boy after his grandfathers instead! We still have some deciding to do if its a girl.

I will keep everyone updated on the progress and pictures!

    Thanks to all!

    Hank

Many congratulations, Hank! As a recent first-time dad myself, I frequently look back upon our child's birth as one of the happiest and most magical times in my life. I hope things are similar for you!

Wow Hank! Thanks for posting this I did miss it the first time. Congratulations. Your life will never be the same, it'll be much, much better. Watch out for those sensitive moments, things that never made much impact will suddenly take on different meanings and we don't want to let the women folk know that we're really a bunch of softies.

Belated Congratulations from across the pond, Hank.

Everyone else is advising you to relish the experiences to come. Alas, I have missed out on all of that, and it's too late now, but I am sure you are in for years of amazing moments and wonderful memories. Savour every minute.

Of course, there's always Mark for a boy, & Markie for a girl. (I so enjoy being helpful. )

One of the things that can hit you like a brick (& I mean just one of the things) is that while we, as parents, are always thinking of how to train & raise our children as best we can (i.e., parents acting on the children), we may not realize how we are changed by our children (children acting on the parents). If you are a consciencious parent, you will change & develop for the better, and it will be one of those indescribably delicious aspects of life.
