Socks for those with thick calves.

    Found these today at www.kingsizedirect.com.

    Wide Leg Rag Socks $9.99

    The ad copy says:
Oversized. Wide leg flare at top for ease of fit. 1 x 1 rib knit allows for greater stretch and comfortable fit. 12" top height. Cotton/acrylic/spandex. Machine care. USA.

I know they're not high-top stockings, but some of you have been complaining that you can't find socks that comfortably fit over your muscular calves, so...

I think they'd look great with boots. ;)

Yeah, it's a shame you can't find kilt type hose that are cut for big calves without getting them custom made. After hearing all the people on this board with that problem, you would think someone would start doing it. Sounds like a business opportunity to me.:-D

Try finding them for big calves AND for a 6'5" frame. I turn green with envy every time I see a nice double cuff on shorter folks.

    Schultz - I'm 5'8" and never get a double-turn thanks to 19.5" calves.

Piper's Cove sells one wide-calf hose in off-white for $45 (ouch) that works if you have the feet to go with it. I'm a 9.5 EE/EE and have a bit too much foot left over in the hose.

Iolaus - those look like they're worth checking out for knock-around wear. Thanks for the link!

Sounds like some of you guys, besides learning how to make kilts, are gonna have to learn how to knit socks.

How about a readymade cuff? Pull your sock up over a part of it then fold a readymade double turnover down over the top. Just find someone that can knit real well.

That is worth checking out for one good pair of off white hose. That's still cheaper than the custom made ones.
