I remember that winter. The federal government in DC was only open one day that week because the roads weren't clear. Although in my opinion, they should have stayed closed that day so they could clean streets with what plows they had.

Exactly. And besides, I think we were all better off for that week without the nincompoops in government being at their desks!

    Hey, I resemble that remark!

My favorite was a snow in the mid-80's (I forget which year exactly). The news showed the capitol cities of the two superpowers. In Moscow, snow was everywhere, but everyone was going about their business like it was nothing. In DC, with about half the snow, the streets were deserted!

There's a sticky (a post "pinned" to stay at the top of the threads list) that tells how to do this.

It was nice and warm the day that picture was taken. It’s 4 degrees at my house right now and it may be -9 to -11 tomorrow morning.
    That'll keep your pleats straight.

I enjoy shoveling snow in a kilt. Sadly this year we have no snow and the temps are unusually warm.

It's -4F in the backyard right now and we've had gentle, steady snowfall since about 1700 hours. The only problem I face is that our Border Collie (Angus) loves the snow and cold weather and he'll be insisting on 40 minutes of exercise tomorrow morning. I'll be in a kilt.

Bryan...'cuz it'll be just as cold in jeans...

It was -19C (right around 0F) here today when I went out to a chiropractor appointment. I wore my UK, got the "aren't you cold" question from both him and his receptionist. Told them I'm warmer than I usually am in jeans. Also handed out a UK card to a patient in the waiting room who thought the kilt was the coolest thing he'd ever seen!

Yesterday I had to take our cat to the vet. It was cold, about -23C. I normally wear a kilt there, and when I strolled in wearing jeans they were kidding me about not being able to handle the cold. I told them it wasn't the cold that had me in jeans, it was the 50-60 kmh winds! Said I really didn't want to get arrested.

A real man is one who's able to kilt in 23 deg F weather with 35 mph winds... ;-) BTDT a couple times. No problems. That said, I wouldn't wear a UK. I'd wear one of my heavier weight trads.
