    Ha Ha

Anyone ever had the inclination to fence wearing a kilt. I recommend saber fencing kilted.

Does this mean that you have done this, and if you did, how well did you do?

If men could go to battle kilted, you certainly can fence kilted. But pic would be great to prove it.

I'm taking a fencing class next semester. If I go to class kilted, I'll make sure to bring my camera

One assumes that you intended this sarcastically? The leg isn't part of the target in Sabre, but back when I was into masochism I generally took half a dozen sabre cuts to the leg in the course of a bout. Wearing fencing pants it was a case of "Nothing done! Fence!"

I can recall one case back in the sixties when a university fencing master who was allowing his students to spar wearing gym shorts with regulation upperbody protection almost lost his national certification. (The students, being Aggies, couldn't understand what the fuss was all about.)

Wearing a kilt certainly wouldn't be permitted in epee, where the leg is target. Nor likely in foil, where there is always the danger of a broken point on a lunge doing serious damage. Sabre? It takes a special sort of outlook to fence sabre. (Did you know that there at least used to be a rule banning "excessive brutality", on the assumption that ordinary brutality was part of the sport?) You might just manage to get away with a kilt in practice bouts.

The thought of taking a cut to a precious tartan kilt is horrifying.

I have years of experience in fencing.

I don't recommend ever practicing fencing in a kilt for any reason.
