More Clergy Tartan
My next kilt is going to be in the MacMillan Modern Black but after that I'd like to have a kilt in a Clergy tartan.
If we're talking $50/meter for or more for wool, as opposed to $14/meter +/- for P/V, I'm inclined to go for the poly rather than the wool. Their P/V is also finished with DuPont Teflon.
As I posted elsewhere on this forum, A.S. Campbell seems to have the best prices on P/V. Unfortunately, the mill they use for their P/V is Marton Mills, doesn't produce the Clergy tartan, but does produce the Clarke tartan in P/V.
I'm interested in general thoughts on using the Clarke tartan for a kilt instead of the Clergy tartan. The difference seems to be in the color of the light colored lines, white on the Clarke, gray or light blue on the Clergy. For the money, I'm inclined to go with the Clarke and just call it my Clergy tartan, since, if I understand correctly, the Clarke tartan descended from the Clergy tartan, not the other way around. Plus, the Clergy Blue seems to vary in color depending on the mill that produces it, so I figure that I could just say, "It's the mill." ;)
