Go to the plastic hangar section of WalMart (unless you refuse to shop there...enough discussion on that already). You will find bags of a dozen extra clips that match the clips they sell on their white plastic hangars. The hangars come with two clips already. I like to add three more to each hangar.
You'll need about 50 extra hangar clips...they look like stubby clothes pins made of plastic. Buy 100 half ounce fishing weights. Buy some duct tape/gaffer tape. Tape one weight to each side of each clip, two clips to a weight.
Wash your utilikilt, AmeriKilt, Freedom Kilt, Pittsburgh Kilt, whatever Kilt. Hang it from the three hangars on a shower rod. Then straighten the pleats and clip a weighted hangar clip to the bottom of each pleat. Let it dry.
Not sure how much simpler to describe it. Easy fast.

Ron, I think you mean two weights to a clip, not 2 clips to to a weight, but I also wanted to ask if you would post a pic of a kilt hanging with the weights?
When you hang it up, do you hang it folded like for wearing or fully open, so that it would go the whole length of the shower curtain rod?
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

Ron thanks for this information. Having just ironed my kilt yesterday I understand why you felt the need to invent a better solution. However I have to say I am giving Jimmy's steaming solution a harder look.

Might try combining the two methods and get straighter pleats. Put the clips on and hang the kilt, then steam the pleats and let it cool down with the weights on.
