This discussion of the shirt with sweater/jumper brings up a question I've had about something we sometimes use in the pipe band for a slightly less formal look than white shirt and tie. We use military commando-style sweaters, or "pullies" as some folk refer to them, on occasion when weather conditions dictate for parades in spring and autumn. I prefer it when we add a turtleneck shirt under the sweater, as you really can't see much more of a regular-collared shirt but the collar, and the knot of the tie.
I'd be interested in any opinions, including what others might think of Avonlea adding a turtleneck to the sweater and kilt look. The color of the turtleneck could be matched with the color of the hose, and the ensemble would still be fairly sharp, in my opinion. Am I off the mark with this idea, and if you think so, please let us know why?
