I found your post in a previous thread with photos of the underapron showing on a "too small" kilt - that was VERY helpful. I'm pretty sure a larger kilt will fit me better. If I do need to move a waist buckle, can I just move the one on the right side - or should I move both waist buckles?

To be honest - having someone else measure your waist is probably a good idea - I measured myself. I'll bet there was a bit of subconscious tummy sucking going on. As in- "But I CAN'T be a 38!!!" What an ego eh?

If you want to make a kilt smaller at the waist, you move the apron edge buckle toward the center back of the kilt, and you move the underapron _strap_ toward the center of the underapron about the same amount. Moving the buckle that's next to the buttonhole doesn't actually do anything, because it's where the strap is sewn on the underapron that governs how tight you can pull the underapron. Both are easy to do, but be sure to use what's called button/craft thread. You need the really heavy stuff to make it strong. Just doubling regular sewing thread will wear out too quickly!

... A custom-made kilt can help if you aren't quite the right shape for one ready-made. But, they sure cost a lot more!!
