    SWK 2006 Standard arrived today!

Got my 06 Irish National Standard today  Now I'm not hands on familar with "real" wool kilts, but this seems pretty close in general appearance. It is very nicely made, with all the features as advertised on Stillwater's site. It has good "swing" like I'd expect to see on a good kilt. I was also really impressed by how bold the kelly green of this tartan is, St.Patrick's day here I come!
About my only beef was how nerve-racking it was getting out the tack stitching, my wife took over so I wouldn't mess up the fabric. At 5 foot 9, the length seems about an inch too long, I will have my mother-inlaw the seamstress hem it up for me and then a good pressing to sharpen up the pleats.
Up till now I've only had a couple of the 'new style' Sport Kilts, which in the words of Mrs. Zardoz; "look great until you get around folks with 'real' kilts" She calls the SK a 'training kilt'! Needless to say, she is pleased with the Stillwater, as am I. I wish I'd come across Stillwater sooner in my quest for an inexpensive kilt, I wouldn't have known about them at all if it wasn't for X-Marks and Kilt Day.

    Merry Christmas!
