She's also a member of this board and has impecable credentials. I can vouch for her craftsmanship after ordering three kilts from her so far with a fourth when my plastic cools.
I can't speak for her, but guessing she'd be pleased to sew more. The normal way for her to work is to order up the tartan fabric of your choice for you. Only difference here is that its sidetracked through Steve to allow the production of this specialty tartan. Steve's volunteering to be of service again is another huge gift.
Ron, you've bragged on Kathy so much, I'm definitely going to have to get a future kilt from her. Maybe when I finally get the Xmarks tartan I'll have her do the kilt, since she'll already have the experience with the tartan.

My focus has always been on value. Learned that from my father. No point in spending money on a cheap kilt that I'm embarrassed to wear in public, or on poorly made kilts.
The value is solid with a hand sewn traditional kilt. I believe someone like Kathy who takes the time to follow her passion and go to Scotland to learn the old ways, then bring them back here and prove her craftsmanship year after year after year is a valuable asset for those of us addicted to kilts.
One of the joys of this board is to be able to share information on vendors. Great vendors like Kathy Lare deserve praise and reccomendation as much as shoddy products and poor customer service deserve a warning be shared.
If you love kilts, I can't think of a more solid investment than a hand sewn traditional kilt that will last a lifetime.

Aye Dave, for sure.
Have been emailing her all the local gatherings, hoping she'll take her kids and hook them up with some of the clan booths to learn the family heritage.
Think there are a few big gatherings in your area every year.
And, I have hopes that her husband might someday risk a kilt. He's a die hard Cleveland Browns fan (is there any other kind?) so thought maybe a nice chocolate brown Utilikilt workman's as a start...

A Kiltmaker for your X Marks
I've been very pleased with Kathy Lare at Kathy's Kilts and reminding folks that she's available to sew up the X Marks tartan kilts...but it was all "unofficial."
Just heard from her today and, yes, she is happy to accept delivery of X Mark's Tartan run #2 fabric and sew you a kilt from it.
She does request that you contact her directly first so you can work out the finances, measurements, et.al. Her website is www.kathyskilts.com
You'll be pleased if you do.

I'm gonna bump on this thread to bring it backto the top.
It seems some of the newest members may not know about it.

Thanx for the reminder, Steve.
Does anyone know if this tartan can be pleated to stripe?

I have a long strip left over from the ripping for my kilt.
I'll pleat it a couple of ways and post a pic.
Give me a few days till after the holiday.
