You might have a favorite leather jacket you like to wear all the time, but you would be a fool to wear it when it's 120 degrees out, wouldn't you?
And if you must wear something under the kilt - like bicycle shorts - you're defeating the purpose anyway.
Jeans are the only way to go for riding - unless you have some fancy English boots and jodhpurs. Dashing, awld boy! Release the hounds!

It occurred to me that that a blanket on a saddle might be all that's required. I may have solved my own problem. How ever the process was accomplished by all that gave their input. Thank you

I was just told today that Royce (the Ancient Coyote who, so far, only posts on the Nathan Warmack threads) rode a horse kilted just yesterday. We'll have to find out from him how it went.

NO! His lovely DW didn't have the camera with her.
Maybe we can get him to stage a photo for us.

I prefer sheep pelt over blanket... oh, so soft! (And you can use the rest of the sheep for haggis, how convenient!)

Actually he's quite serious. I used to ride a lot and I can tell you that I saw them all the time. A blanket will have a tendency to slide across the leather. A fitted wool pad is the way to go.
