    Opera Night

Here's a pic of my partner and I ready for the night out. We went to our local performing arts hall to see "The Barber of Seville". It happens to be right next to the Hilton as well, so we stopped in for a drink first. Being new to single malt, I plunged and ordered a dram of Laphroaig. Oh man, I'm ruined. One smell and I was enchanted.

During intermission, I had a lady turn, look at me in my kilted finery and exclaim "well done!".

Afterwards, we were off dancing at a local watering hole and a few drams of Macallen. A fine time was had by all.

    Happy New Years everyone!

Very nicely done! Tracy and I have been looking attending the symphony this coming season a few times. Here in Denver, it's a pretty open dress code: tuxes to jeans and your best Stetson.

    Bryan...how was the opera?...

Outstanding. Lovely lady, nice kilt outfit, it doesn't get any better than that.

You both look great. Everytime I hear of The Barber of Seville I think of the cartoon version with Bugs Bunny.

A fine look. Your lady looks proud too. What a joy that is.

Looks like you have all the gear for a traditional kilt waiting...hint hint hint....

You must have been the best-dressed man at the opera. You both look wonderful. I just wish my spouse liked opera so that I could have the opportunity to go dressed that nicely.

    Thanks all.

    Bryan, the opera was great.

SB, I think they borrowed some back from the cartoon. There was a bit of adlib through the night, kind of like Italian Marx brothers.

    David - what's a barber?

Ron, you noticed! "Uh, dear, since I have all these accessories, they'll really go to waste without a traditional kilt". Yeah, that's the ticket.....

Glassman, has he ever tried? I don't care to listen to opera but seeing it in person is quite different, especially a humorous show. Just the outing is half the fun.

No, he won't even give it a try. And the silly thing is that he likes musicals! His opposition is that it's in a foreign language and he won't understand it.

I told him that's what the libreto is for, but he still won't listen.

That's not a traditional kilt? What kind is it?

Is the white shirt you are wearing pleated in the front or not? I rarely wear formal clothing so I don't know which style (pleated or unpleated) would look the best.
