Barb, I have no clue why they used bright green. It does seem a bit odd to me since it's awfully jarring against the tartan. The bias tape did a fine job fixing it though. I used black simply because that's what I had on hand, leftovers from another project. I'd advise using navy blue if someone needs to go out and buy it for the Cameron.

I know about the tent pegs, it was another nonfix for an irrelevant problem. The military was loaded with those.

I have several militery kilts that were made by Thomas Gordan and Son. They have a bright green band at the top and I think it makes a good accent. I"ve wonderd at the reason for it myself.

To me the green looks terrible against the Cameron tartan. Wrapped around the waist as it does it draws attention and seems to cut the body in half. I suppose if I was a reenactor I'd leave it, but I wear it out and about in cold weather so getting rid of that bright green improves the appearance a great deal.

I went back to WPG and took another look, that band DOES look bad on the Cameran. The ones I have are Blackwatch and Stewart Hunting.

The ugly green band was one of the reasons I have have not purchased a WPG kilt. You have offered a nice solution. Smart thinking, Bubba!

Which keeps it in tune with the Scottish tradition of thriftiness!
