			Kilt Kamp 06

					Hi folks
 Steve Ashton and I have been trying to work out a possible Kilt Kamp in Victoria, BC for this summer, and Steve has posted a message in General Kilt Talk that I'm going to repeat below. It's so easy to miss things in General Kilt Talk because there are so many threads, and things tend to scroll off the bottom unless people are actively posting replies.

 Original message from Steve:

 To all those interested in attending Kilt Kamp, I have this update.

 We are currently thinking of a three to five day Kamp. We will use an open tutor format where there are subject matter experts available to answer you questions, offer hints and tips and hold short classes. This will not be a make your own kilt type of camp.

 On the roster will be, (subject to timing and availability) Barb Tewksbury for Traditional Kiltmaking, Myself for Contemporary Kiltmaking, Robert Pell of R-Kilt fame for Leather Kiltmaking, Matt Newsome for Kilt and Tartan History (and also hopefully box-pleated Kiltmaking.

 Included in your admission price will be acess to all these people. Acess to my shop if you want to actually do some sewing. All the coffee and cookies you can eat and drink. A dinner at one of Victoria's fine establishments. A Kilt Night with a local Celtic Band. A guided tour of the Royal BC Museum (If you haven't heard my talk on Totem Poles your in for a treat). And all the tourist things this city is famous for.

 If your would like to attend, please send my some dates between June and August that would be good for you. I have started a calendar and will check off dates until we come up with one that will suit most of you.

 Everyone else please chime in here and tell me what you think of the weekend of July 21, 22, 23 (Fri, Sat, Sun).

 It also seems that the price of a three day camp will come in at about $250.00 per person.  (if at least 6 attend)  This will offset the costs of those things I promised to provide which include;

 A kilt table with as many different kiltmakers work available as we can find.
 (someone offer to loan us a AK, a 2006 SWK, A Union Kilt, and any others you may have.)

 A dinner at Shenanigans pub followed by a Kilt Night to the music of "The
 Eccelstons".

 A door prize of a free Freedom Kilt. Custom made to your specifications.

 A free Freedom Kilt T-shirt for each participant.

					Aw, shucks, Steve! You shouldn't have told everyone about the cookies! Now they'll all come, the ferries will be overloaded, the hotels will be full, I won't be able to get a table at a pub . . . "Touch not the cat bot a glove."

	So David, what day are we hitting the Irish Times pub? Hopefully Andrew and his fiancee (maybe wife by than) will be around so I have a place to crash.
