What!!! You have to use them???;-)

That can be said of about any form of exercise equipment. I've got a basic weight set stashed away somewhere around here.

On the previous page is the link to atomic athletic, run by Roger LaPointe.

In fact, I'll post it here too.

Roger has alot of kettlebells, and has great service. I recommend him highly.

Tell him Fr. John, the weightlifting priest, sent you.

Thanks for the link. I wonder what the shipping charges on a 6,000 lb. ball would be?!

Well, I got my 16kg kettlebell last Thursday and I've been working into a schedule that should run 4-6 times a week for between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on number of sets. I'm feeling pretty good (I normally have a twingy knee and lower back that have been surprisingly pain-free since Saturday) and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying the workout time!

Bryan...I'll let you guys know changes (if any) next week...

    Congratulations on your KB purchase.
Always warm up for 10-20 minutes before hand. The older you are, the longer you should warm up.

It's worth it in terms of performance and staying injury free.

I've been doing a brief stretch like I used to before practising Aikido, maybe 3 to 5 minutes: is that what you mean, or do you prefer to use lighter weights on some of the exercises to warm up?

Bryan...still sweaty from tonight's half workout...

Wow, those kettlebells look cool. I'm going to have to look into getting one.

I just started training for the HG's this year, and I got some of my buddies into it too. How do you think the KB's would work as substitute weight-over-bar weights? Right now, just for practice we've been using a 40 lb dumbell.

Anyone know a good place to get the weights they use at the highland games? Its pretty easy to get stone for the putting events, but the weight for height and for distance is a little harder to accurately simulate.

Anyone have any cheap, good ideas for practice cabers too?

Check this link for info on finding HA equipment:

It's a pretty neat site for highland games tips and info, too.

    Bryan...thinking about it this year...

    Thanks for the info!

Also, for anyone needing tacky/grip help, get ahold of Larry Brock. He is a professional HG Athlete, and he makes a great product called "Brocks Magic Tacky". I used the stuff at his throwing clinic and the stuff works.
