I've got a compilation CD called Celtic Tides that has two of Dougie's tunes, "Feel so Near" and "Caledonia" that kinda get to me. There is another song called "E Horo" by Mary Lamond that'll tug at your heart, too.

Another great burns song is "For A' That And A' That" or it is also know by another title "Is there, for honest poverty". The Old Blind Dogs have a great version of it on their "Fit?" CD.

I used to live in Aberdeen when they were first getting going in my local pub - (before that they were called Mabel Meldrums I think) we got them to play at one of the Aberdeen University Celtic Society Ceilidhs which was a good night - lots of Kilts and lots of lasses that liked guys in kilts :-P
'Boondock Skank' is a good tune of theirs

I love Dougie Maclean, & the Dogs, too. I got to see them in Ft. Worth last fall, & they were just great. Bring on the tatties & herrin'!

I first heard Dougie in the Netherlands back in the 1970s when he accompanied the late Hamish Imlach on a tour. He played Caledonia that evening - it's been one of my favourites since then.
FWIW Dolores Keene has a cover version almost as good.
