Actually, the SWK sporran has a back pocket that can be dedicated to weapon storage only; it also has a large pocket under the flap and a pocket on top of the flap for small stuff.

Not to mention the retention problem. I wouldn't keep a gun anywhere that didn't have the ability to at least nominally lock it down (i.e. snapped strap or pressure grip on the weapon). I can just see someone late to the crosswalk starting to jog across and bouncing his pocket pistol out onto the pavement!

That balisong in that sporran is either illegal or of questionable legality in several states ;)

Like here in Kalifornia, but I know several states where it is legal.

A balisong is a Filipino knife otherwise known as a butterfly knife. You can see the handle to the left of the sporran while looking at it.

It's definitely illegal in a number of states. I remember in my Isshinryu training days seeing ads in various martial arts magazines that would plainly state they would not ship balisongs to California.

Ahh, I've always heard the term butteryfly knife.

Cool, it is absolutely amazing the things you learn on this board everyday.

I often use an alunimum-handled Jaguar M4 Balisong as a Sgian Dubh, it stays put nicely in my sock top. Never had any problems here in MN, (I think they are verboten in the city limits of Minneapolis) I once loaned it without incident to a Sheriff's deputy so he could open a box. Doesn't surprise me a bit that it is forbidden in California.

I was privileged to have learned some Balisong techniques directly from Filipino martial arts master Dan Inosanto when he was in MN, my most recent knife training was in the Filipino Pekiti-Tirsia Kali method.

Some time in 1984 Uncle Ron signed the Religous Freedom Act. It states that implement of religion could not be confiscated. I'm a pagan amongst other things and my Sgian is consecrated. Cops can't touch it. The one hitch is that I have to be going to a function of some sort. So I wear the sgian all the time and the dirk stays home unless I'm going to a function.
The reality is if you treat the cops with respect they'll generally do the same.
