Here is something I came up with. This isn't a finished hat, just a hat company which would do one hat at a time, or a batch. My idea was a royal blue ball cap with :

XMARKS MEMBER embroderedacross the front in silver, and XMARkS.com across the back. Their price for a single hat is about $21

They also do Logos, butI think they are more expensive. I don't see a problem with copyrights , if we each had our own hat made up. Sometime ago, Hank told me I could make my own personal xmarksthescot.com bumper sticker. I still plan on doing that, but the "KILTIN" Dakota stays in the parking lot at festivals.

I don't know why everyone is worried so much about the copyright issue. Do we even know for sure if that T-shirt that says "X Marks the Scot" is even registered? Further, if no one makes any money off of a "copy", then there is no harm done.

But what we want is something that says: "www.XMarksTheScot.com"; the dot com at the end and the triple wow at the front makes all the difference. That is the name of our forum; we have the right to promote our forum; we are not damaging anyone else's business by doing so.

Heck, I could take my existing hat and get the URL embroidered across the back at one of those kiosks in the mall.

I still like furrycelt's idea of a small white "X" on the back of a hat or Balmoral: its easay, its cheap, you can move it from one hat to another, or put it on a jacket lapel, vest or shirt. I'm proud of Xmarks, put there *are* times when I wouldn't want to wear a a ballcap or tshirt, and this would seem to address the matter.

Bryan...are we overthinking this issue a bit?...

Just flash it every so often? That's an idea Glen, then when we're in the hooscow for flashing we can trade info! Seriously, I think Glen's on to something here. Simple things usually work best. A sign in a booth, a name badge, or a hat badge that says "Clan X" or "Clan Xmarks" is sure to solicit questions. That will give us a chance to talk about our great community here and I'll bet that if two of us are at the same event somebody will come up and say "Oh yeah, I talked to one of you guys over by the wiskey tasting (that's where I'd be anyway )

I started thinking about this issue because I found out that I actually talked to an XMARKS member at last years Richmond games. He was working in the UK tent and I asked about the "Mocker". Neither of us mentioned XMARKS. I also know that at least 3 other members were there. We probably passed each other several times during the weekend. I am, at the least going to order one of the hats that I suggested, seeing as I am follically challanged and have to watch out for sunburn on top.(It's quite painful)

Here's a design I came up with. It would go with anything- hat, button, tag shirt etc. It's not drawn perfectly, so if your not graphicly challenged feel free to mess with it.

    One more.

    Two links for you all...

    http://www.zazzle.com/design/

zazzle is a sight that allows you to upload artwork of your choice and then create individual items that feature that artwork. The price for one item is a bit high, but then each person could choose their "thing"...t-shirt, cards, whatever

Our student consulting group manager used them to create prototypes of several different submitted designs for the student consultants polo shirt. Each individual shirt is expensive, but it requires no central management of any kind. Just upload the agreed-upon artwork, and GO. Once the artwork is there, you can have your custom shirt ordered an hour later and have it on your back in a week.

    Also...

    http://www.americanpatch.com/

    http://www.americanpatch.com/pricechart.html

These could be made up in a lot of 50 and sold for about $4-5 a pop and nobody would get rich, but that patch could be put on a hat, or a shirt, or any number of things.
