The wife and I went to our first black-tie Burns Supper last Saturday night, we had a great time. It was my first time wearing the kilt with the formal shirt, studs, and black bow tie. we made a fine looking couple. Unfortunately we didn't get out picture taken together.

My band, The Fort Worth Scottish Pipes and Drums, plays for a Burn's Night at the Prestonwood Country Club in Dallas every year. It's very formal and the food is great. But the speakers can go on for a long time. For anyone that has an opportunity to try haggis and doesn't, they're missing out. Modern haggis isn't made by people trying to scratch a living from the earth and eating anything they can digest anymore. The ingredients are better quality than you'll find in a hot dog, at least. But, if you don't eat it, that just leaves more for those of us who like it.

I hit a local Burn event last Saturday night, but was unfortunately suffering through a 24 hr stomach flu yesterday, so I didn't get to hit the Burn's festivities at the local pub.

Actually the haggis was not bad. I think it was another one of those "look what we brought home from daycare for you Dad.." situations. I was the last one in the family to get it so I knew it was coming.
