    Thumbs up Calgary kilt spotting!

I was in the downtown core today just before noon, heading to my next shift as a bus driver. What do I spy across the street but a fellow wearing a kilt! Too cool! He was dressed casually in a sweater, kilt (Maple Leaf tartan?), cream hose w/flashes, and black shoes. I managed to catch up with him, but he was too busy to stop and talk. At any rate, it was pretty neat to finally spy a kilt being worn casually on the streets of Calgary, even if it IS Robbie Burns day.

Indeed it is neat to see another kilted gent, even on Robbie Burns Day.

Near the Chamber of Commerce -- Centre Street and 6 Avenue?

    Hey Al,

Was our kilted friend anywhere near the Chamber of Commerce? I believe they do a Burns Day lunch every January 25. He could have been on his way there. The only kilt I saw yesterday was mine.

That could very well be. He was walking north from The Bay on 1st, then east on 6th past the Petro Canada towers. The CoC is just around the corner from there. Nice dining room, too. I've been there a few times. I didn't realize they held a special Burns day lunch there, though. I kept my eye out for other kilted fellows all day yesterday and he was the only one I saw.

    kilt on Burns Day...

Robert Burns's birthday is the perfect day to wear a kilt, casually or otherwise!

    Cheers,

I was up in Calgary for about a week this summer for my annual visit to the University of Calgary. I was kilted throughout the week and found Clagary to be quite Kilt friendly. There is also a highland supply store there near the Canada Olympic Park.

Kilts: just another reason to like Calgary.

Very cool, Rick! I'm glad you like our city. I have yet to run into any real problems here wearing my kilts. Next time you come up contact me beforehand and perhaps we can get a bunch of us together for a drink.

As for the Highland Gift Shoppe...Bill has an impressive little store there. I've bought a number of things from him. Very friendly service.
