Shadow heavyweight and a black tie: and touch up the pleats if they need it. Good sharp pleats on your kilt shows respect in the same way a sharp crease on your pants did (when you wore them).
Thanks all for your condolences and advice. I think that I am going to go with the Blackwatch. I feel that the tradition and quality of that kilt will honor my uncle the best. I like my 2 SWK's, but they really are a budget kilt. I just feel like I would not be presenting myself at my best because I would now the difference, even if nobody else would. For another occasion, just going out someplace nice, I am going to pair the shadow and the black argyll jacket with black tie. I think it will look really sharp.
Graham's foray last year also convinced that the Blackwatch would be very respectful:
My jacket has the silver buttons. I just hope they don't look too flashy. Oh well, no cure for it at this point.
Peace.

My Condolences. I hope the service is wonderful. When I die, i want my family to celebrate who I was, not mourn what was lost. For me, death has lost it's sting. Be Blessed, I am praying for your family.
I have decided on the kilt, but some have mentioned that Blackwatch is appropriate for other than that it is a dark and conservative tartan. I get the feeling that the Blackwatch is also appropriate because of the regiment it represents. Anyboy want to enlighten me as to the background? Is it just that it is a very old and respected tartan?
Thanks again for the condolences. Sitting here at the airport and not really looking forward to where I am going or leaving my family behind.
